|memorycatcher||05:54 am - Katrina Fundraiser|
I have been planning a Katrina Relief concert for about a week now and the community has been great. They have offered to donate everything I've needed until now. Now I need a venue. I have been told that the Cotati Plaza in Cotati, CA would be a great location but I have to ask the city council for permission. I need your help!
Wednesday I will be going in front of the City Council. I could really use some community support. Please support the concert and Katrina Survivors by sending a short email to the Cotati City Council. In case you don't know, I am just one person, planning this. I don't have any savings or extra money so I can't afford the permits and insurance. I'm hoping the city will consider sponsoring the event so I don't have to try to come up with the funds. I need people to put the screws to them.
If you would please call, email or show up at the meeting, I would be so greatful!
If you could please, in your emails or phone calls say something like:
I would love to see this fundraiser at the plaza
I would attend
People in NOLA, Mississippi, etc really need our help
I would be disappointed if it didn't happen
Great for surrounding businesses
Do your part to help Katrina survivors
Wave the fees
Help with insurance costs
The council, the mayor and vice mayor's email addresses are:

Reposted from here.
This little fellow was limping around in front of the church this morning as we headed out. He had a license on, but no other identifying tags (no address or phone number), and between his dirty hair and the way he favored his right front leg, I knew he was probably lost. I wondered it he'd been hit by a car or been in a fight. He was really friendly, however, one of the most trusting dogs I’ve ever casually encountered. Jennifer suggested that we drive him over to the Petaluma Animal Shelter and see if they could figure out what to do with him; sure, she’d be late to work, but that was a small price to pay in making sure the dog was taken care of. On the drive over, Jennifer gave him some water from Maddie’s car bowl. He was quite thirsty, and seemed to really enjoy the ride. We wondered if he might be a Lhasa, but Jeff, the Animal Control Officer on duty at the shelter suggested that he was possibly a Bichon mix. Jeff was at least able to recognize that he was a “young neutered male” (we hadn't checked yet, and had been up until that point referring to the dog as "she"). At least he’s in good hands now, I’m sure we did the right thing, and I’ll call the shelter this afternoon to check in and see if they’ve figured out where he belongs.
After we dropped him off, I realized that he looked a bit like Irene’s dog, and that got me worrying about Irene; I haven’t seen her out walking lately, so I hoped that nothing bad had happened to her. Once I got home and checked, however, I realized that Susie’s a she, and this dog was definitely a he. I also thought of Punkin, but since Punkin’s a hundred years older than the dinosaurs and deaf as a post, that’s not it either.
So, just in case the Animal Shelter can’t figure it out, do you know this dog?
Here's an update: The dog's name is Ipo. He's a Lhasa, and this was his fourth trip to the Animal Shelter. Apparently, he's quite an escape artist. His owners have been contacted.

So, you’re bored? And you’re in Petaluma? Well, then, we at Apeshit! Media have just the remedy for you. Stop by Boomerang (12 Kentucky Street – in the Lan Mart building) and pick up a copy of the chapbook Power Trio, by Ross E. Lockhart. It’ll set you back half a sawbuck. Power Trio is a rock and roll fantasy featuring three short stories, plenty of foul language, and disreputable characters that you’re sure to love. While you're there, pick up an extra copy for your grandma's birthday, she'll love it too.

We should all organize a classy midnight picnic which would take place in Philip Suede (the stage, specifically). It'd be a lot of fun, I swear.
Wasn't there talk of actually demolishing the school and making it into town houses in spring of '05? Whatever happened to that? I think they should just leave it be, it's a really rad place to hang out at.

My father's military duties have called again, and we have moved to a town called Danville. It's less like Norman Rockwell and more like Andy Warhol.
